How Did The Easter Bunny & Santa Claus Rob Jesus Of The Credit On His Days?

Sunday, April 05, 2015Brother Mustafaa

"This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Matthew 15;8-9

Easter is supposed to be about the death, resurrection and salvation of the Savior, Jesus Christ, however Mr. Easter Bunny, Eggs, new clothes get more play on this day and it seems Jesus gets relegated to the back seat. Similarly, Christmas is supposed to be about the birth of the child Jesus, but again Santa, Rudolph, Frosty the snowman, light & trees again get more play than Jesus and he again gets relegated to the back seat on a day supposedly dedicated to him.

We have to be courageous to ask: How did our acknowledgement of Jesus get mixed up with doctrines of men and gross materialism?

According to the "Nation retail association" the holiday of Easter earns on average 16.8 billion dollars a year. The same "Nation retail association" estimated that Americans spent over 600 billion dollars for Christmas in 2014.

Jesus went into the temple and ran out the money changers for using God's name to turn a profit. What do you think he would do in 2015 with people using his righteous name to turn a 16.8 billion dollar profit?

"Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves." Matthew 21:12

We have to be courageous enough to ask: How did old Roman wicked celebrations get superimposed on the celebration of Jesus Christ? Jesus is worthy of honor, praise and acknowledgement, but not by the world's standards.

Jesus spoke of people who honor him with their lips, but their hearts are very far from him. This world gives lip service to Christ, but the hearts/actions of the people are very far from his teachings and life example. These days, set aside for remembrance of Jesus, should inspire us to be more "Christ like" which is more "God like" not going into debt or broken finances to keep up with the jones.

Tell our beautiful black babies the truth... Bunnies don't lay eggs and there is no fat man[Santa] traveling to planet delivering gifts.
