The Failure Of Religion And The Need For A New Understanding

"O you who believe, should anyone of you turn back from his religion, then Allah will bring a people, whom He loves and who love Him... This is Allah’s grace — He gives it to whom He pleases. And Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing." Qur'an 5:54

Looking at the current state of religion in the world, it is not an understatement to say religion, as a whole, has failed humanity. It may be assumed, because I am under the banner of Islam, that I would hold up my own religion and shine a light on the failures of other religions. However, while I am proud of my Islamic and Muslim identity, I cannot deny that Islam, as presently experienced, is in need of reform along with Christianity, Judaism and others.

It's not that the core of these religions are wrong. All of the religions teach prayer, fasting, charity, do unto others as you would want done unto yourself, family, community, brotherhood, etc. However, there is something seriously wrong with what we have claimed with our mouths and what has been produced with our actions. We are witnessing clashes between the billion or more Chrstians and clashes between the billion or more Muslims. And, after the members of the same religion get enough fighting each other they fight the members of different religions verbally, ideologically and even in worst cases violently.

Religion has failed to produce a human being in the image and likeness of God. The ultimate state of the human being(man & woman) is to reflect God in our person. We are the highest most exalted of creation, but we live less than animals at times by being ruled by our passions, emotions and low desires.

It is said that humans use less than 10% of their brain potential. Yet, while not using the fullness of our minds, modern advancements have been amazing. Now imagine if we used 20%, 30% or 50% not to mention the full 100% what advances would be in the world.

We have the potential to be Gods, but religion has made slaves of us by teaching of a mystery God, a formless being floating in the sky that we can only see after we die. Or, we have been taught of a heaven in the skies or a fiery hell under the ground.

This mystery of God and immature understating of spiritual realities are ending today as God declared.

"The mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets." Revelations 10:7

Religion has failed to produce a lasting love among humanity.  The Hon. Louis Farrakhan once stated White supremacy has poisoined the blood stream of religion. We know that blood is the fluid of life and when it is bad the body experiences a reduction in quality of life. Under a white supremacy interpretation of God, black people have suffered by all three monotheistic religions(Judaism, Christianity & Islam).

White Supremacy has been seen in Christianity by the Europeans being involved in the transatlantic slave trade and resulting slavery of blacks. Also, White Christians had no respect for the Native American people's traditions, culture or perspective of God, so they were branded as heathens and terrorized.

White Supremacy has been seen in Judaism by white Jews interpreting the books of Moses in a way that created the idea of the "Hamitic Curse", which theologically gave justification for the enslavement and mistreatment of black people.

White supremacy has been seen in Islam by the white Arab looking down on his black Muslim brother and exploitation based on the idea of being superior by Arab blood and being recipients of divine revelation via Qur’an.

With these realities, we cannot follow any orthodox “mainstream” religion today. However, we shouldn’t take an extreme position and throw away God and the truth of the prophets just because white supremacy made a mess of God’s truth.

The Hon. Louis Farrakhan and his teacher before him have taken us to the root of things. We are taught the nature of the Blackman and woman is the nature of righteousness and submission God. This way of living is called Islam in Arabic, but we are bigger than any religious denomination and cannot be limited to the religious expressions of this world. Before there were named religious systems we lived our life in harmony with God, each other and nature.

The Quranic verse we started this article with says, “should anyone of you turn back from his religion, then Allah will bring a people, whom He loves and who love Him.” The entire world of religious practitioners can be considered guilty of turning back from their religion, so should we be looking for a new people to rise up?

I believe The Hon. Louis Farrakhan is leading this new religious understanding that is being birthed today. He is taking us away from being religious bigots and solely defined by our religious labels of Muslim, Christian, Jewish, etc. He is showing how a real Christian is a Muslim and a real Muslim is a Christian when we deal in principles and not mere labels. He is showing us how to drain white supremacy from our "religion" and regain the purity of God and the prophets's teachings. He is teaching us how to grow from being just good servants of God to becoming functionaries of God's will(little gods) on Earth.

Because of his teachings, I was saved from being an atheist while younger and he taught me how to understand an active God in a world of white supremacy.
